Vietnamese Lesson #2 with Trang

I am a dance teacher. I teach ballroom dancing. I have some Vietnamese students, and they like when I speak to them in Vietnamese, and are willing to help me learn. I live near a part of Los Angeles where there are many Vietnamese people, and I often go to this part of the city to eat, dance or get a massage.
Tôi là một thâỳ giáo dạy nhảy. Tôi dạy khiêu vũ. Tôi có một vài học sinh người Việt, và họ rất thích khi tôi nói tiếng Việt với họ, và họ luôn sẵn lòng giúp tôi học tiếng Việt. Tôi sống gần khu LA, nơi có rất nhiều người Việt, và tôi thường đi đến khu này để ăn, nhảy và massage.
Today, I went to a Vietnamese vegetarian restaurant. I ordered a sandwich, and spring rolls. While I was there, I practiced speaking Vietnamese a little. But there was also a lady from Taiwan with 5 year old daughter, so I actually practiced more Chinese than Vietnamese.
Hôm nay, tôi đã đi đến một nhà hàng chay của người Việt. Tôi đã order 1 sandwich, và chả giò. Tôi đã luyện nói tiếng Việt một chút khi ở đó, nhưng đã có một phụ nữ người Đài Loan và con gái 5 tuổi của cô ấy ở đó, nên tôi đã luyện nói tiếng Trung nhiều hơn tiếng Việt.
After I at lunch, my wife had asked me to go to the VIetnamese grocery store to buy Gai Lan and Mushrooms. I needed to go to the bathroom, so when I arrived I asked the security guard, “where is the bathroom?”, but I used English, because I forget how to say this in Vietnamese. I went to the bathroom. Then I bought the Gai Lan and Mushrooms.
Sau khi ăn trưa, vợ của tôi đã nhờ tôi đi đến cửa hàng tiện lợi Việt Nam để mua cải Lan và nấm. Tôi đã cần phải đi vệ sinh, nên khi tôi đến đó, tôi đã hỏi người bảo vệ “Nhà vệ sinh ở đâu?”, nhưng tôi đã nói tiếng Anh, bởi vì tôi quên cách nói bằng tiếng Việt. Sau đó, tôi đã mua Cải Lan và nấm.
I usually stay up late at night and practice speaking Chinese and Vietnamese or watch Chinese TV shows. I hope that I can improve my Vietnamese listening skills so that I can also watch Vietnamese TV shows. RIght now, my Vietnamese vocabulary is too small, so I am not able to understand many words.
Tôi thường thức khuya vào buổi tối và luyện nói tiếng Trung và tiếng Việt, hoặc xem chương trình Trung Quốc. Tôi hy vọng tôi có thể cải thiện kỹ năng nghe tiếng Việt, để có thể xem cả chương trình Tiếng Việt, Hiện tại, từ vựng tiếng Việt của tôi còn ít ,nên tôi không thể hiểu nhiều

When I teach my Vietnamese dance students, I want to use some Vietnamese phrases like Step forward with your left foot. Step back with your right foot. Don’t look down at my feet. Don’t forget to breathe. Stand up straight.
Khi tôi dạy học sinh Việt nhảy, tôi muốn dùng một vài cụm từ tiếng Việt như: bước chân trái lên phía trước. Bước chân phải ra phía sau. Không được nhìn xuống dưới chân. Đừng quên thở. Đứng thẳng.
